Read moreDonald Frush, MD, FACR, chair of the Image Gently® Alliance, emphasized the importance of protecting children from radiation exposure at the recent “International Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine: X Ray Vision.”
He took part in sessions on risk communication and justification and reviewed the Alliance’s accomplishments and future plans — incorporating pediatric perspectives that align with needs, challenges and opportunities relating to radiation safety.
The conference drew more than 650 attendees and was sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Relevant discussions included patient and caregiver agencies, adherence to ethical practice, and effective communication strategies for patients, caregivers, and the public—especially through modern AI models and educational tools.
The Image Gently Alliance is a coalition of healthcare organizations dedicated to providing safe, high-quality pediatric imaging worldwide. The primary objective of the Alliance is to raise awareness in the imaging community of the need to adjust radiation dose when imaging children.
