ACR® joined a coalition of national organizations in urging Congress to reconcile differences between the U.S. House- and Senate-passed versions of the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act (H.R. 2319/S. 1157).

In a letter to House and Senate leaders, the coalition praised the bipartisan passage of the bill in both chambers and called on lawmakers to resolve remaining differences and send a final measure to the president before the end of the 119th Congress.

The legislation would strengthen federal research on lung cancer in women, helping researchers better understand its causes, risk factors, and pathology. The coalition also thanked the bill’s bipartisan sponsors and committee leaders for advancing the legislation and emphasized the importance of continued efforts to reduce the burden of lung cancer through research, screening, and early detection.
