Read moreACR® joined more than 30 medical organizations in signing a letter to Congress expressing strong support for the Rural Residency Planning and Development (RRPD) Act of 2025 (H.R. 6468).
Introduced by U.S. Reps. Carol Miller (R-WV), Jill Tokuda (D-HI), Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Troy Carter (D-LA), the legislation would provide steady funding to a program that helps start and strengthen medical residency programs in rural areas. Since 2019, the program has expanded training opportunities in rural communities experiencing physician shortages.
The groups emphasized the importance of continued investment in RRPD to improve access to care in medically underserved areas. ACR looks forward to working with Congress and partner organizations to help secure passage of H.R. 6468.
