Read moreACR® participated in the American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) meeting, Sept. 23-26. Michael Booker, MD, MBA, ACR Alternate RUC Advisor, presented 14 multispecialty action plans related to diagnostic and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, cardiology and obstetrics, among other specialties.
The meeting also included a presentation by Nate Apathy, PhD, Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Maryland School of Public Health, related to his continued work using electronic health records log data to estimate procedure times. This was an update to his previous presentation from September 2025, when he detailed what the log data captures and made suggestions on potential pilot studies that could be relevant to the RUC process.
Gregory N. Nicola, MD, FACR, Vice Chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors, represented radiology on the RUC Panel. He was recognized by the AMA during the meeting for his contributions to the RUC, recognizing this was his last meeting on the panel.
The College is working on member surveys for the procedures that will be presented at the upcoming January 2027 meeting. Keep an eye on your inboxes for the launch of RUC surveys by the end of October.
