ACR® joined the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research and nearly 400 organizations to urge Congress to complete federal fiscal year (FY) 2027 funding for NIH as quickly as possible.

NIH is operating under a continuing resolution that funds federal agencies through Dec. 11. The coalition called on lawmakers to finalize FY 2027 appropriations and include protections against policies that could disrupt research funding, such as grant terminations, additional new political reviews and unclear interagency agreements.

NIH funded research leads to medical breakthroughs — including radiology — that advance patient care, including early detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. The letter noted that strong, stable NIH funding helps the United States maintain its leadership in biomedical research and remain competitive in the global economy.
