Become an Imaging 3.0 Champion

“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” — Sir Isaac Newton

Update: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Imaging 3.0 Champions initiative is postponed until 2021. While we are still accepting projects and questions, please check back in September 2020 for revised registration and submission dates.

Imaging 3.0 Champions are the changemakers who have been highlighted in Imaging 3.0 case studies and acknowledged as radiology thought leaders. They are the models for peer learning — giants in the specialty who have demonstrated innovations upon which we can continue to build our cumulative knowledge and grow the community of champions.

Toward that end, we invite radiology practices to emulate the innovations showcased in the 2020 Champions of Imaging 3.0 case studies and submit their Imaging 3.0 projects for consideration as a 2020 Imaging 3.0 Champion. We will share all of the projects submitted on social media and will recognize the 2020 champions at the annual ACR Conference on Quality and Safety.

Goals
  • Demonstrate how an idea presented in various Imaging 3.0 case studies sparked initiation of another project
  • Promote physicians learning from each other — sharing what works, as well as barriers, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Communicate how you have supported the use of evidence-based guidelines and, as applicable, the use of clinical decision support to improve value-based imaging care
Recognition
  • The top Imaging 3.0 Champion project will be recognized at the 2020 ACR Conference on Quality and Safety, and a project leader will have the opportunity to present the project. The conference registration fee will be waived for the presenter. In addition, the project team will be recognized in an ACR press release and on social media.
  • Two additional Imaging 3.0 Champions who have abstracts selected for presentation or poster will also have their conference registration fees waived.

How It Works

  1. Select one or more of the eligible Imaging 3.0 case studies as a springboard for your idea.

  2. Register as a 2020 Imaging 3.0 Champions participant.
The ACR will support applicants by setting up calls to answer questions and connect participants with other Imaging 3.0 Champions.

  3. Submit your 2020 Imaging 3.0 Champions project.
Demonstrate how an idea presented in an Imaging 3.0 case study sparked your project and can grow the community of Imaging 3.0 Champions. Submissions can be an initiative already completed, a project underway, or a new project soon to be introduced.

  4. Social media engagement plan
Projects will be shared via social media to encourage others to gain inspiration and take action.

New deadlines will be posted in September 2020.

2021 Quality Conference

Imaging 3.0 Champions will be named and recognized at the ACR Conference on Quality and Safety.

Evaluation Criteria

A panel comprised of persons recognized as Imaging 3.0 Champions in case studies and ACR physician leaders will review submissions to evaluate:

  • Whether the project is modeled after an eligible Imaging 3.0 case study and the goal is well defined and realistic
  • Extent of engagement with referring providers and/or patients
  • If the plan for improvement is well defined and realistic
  • Quantitative project results
  • Level of project innovation
  • Extent to which project resonated with radiology community
The panel will determine the slate of 2020 Imaging 3.0 Champions to be recognized at the ACR Annual Conference on Quality and Safety.
