The American College of Radiology Association® (ACRA®) appreciates state radiological chapters that applied this year for a Scope of Practice (SOP) grant. Those grant proposals are under review and final decisions will be made soon.
ACRA created a provision in the SOP guidelines to ensure that any state radiological chapter can apply for the grant after the official deadline has closed, if there is an urgent or emergency need to battle non-physician scope of practice activity. The criteria and requirements for submitting an application on an emergency basis are as follows: “In addition to the regular SOP grant applications, the emergency scope of practice fund requests should include a one-page written statement which includes a timeline of the events leading up to this request with an explanation as to the urgent nature of the request.”
The ACR has updated its scope of practice micro-website, which features a wide variety of resources for state chapters, including:
- State scope of practice legislation tracked by the ACR.
- Educational requirements of a radiologist and the value of physician-led care.
- ACR communications and sign-on letters.
