Radiology’s Fight Against Prior Authorization Delays
ACR is leading national efforts to make prior authorization more efficient and clinically appropriate while reducing the administrative burden and supporting national legislation.
Read moreThe American College of Radiology® (ACR®) Economics Committee on Medical Physics, led by Heidi A. Edmonson, PhD, recently developed a resource to assist members with guidance on billing for Current Procedural Terminology® (CPT®) code 76145, Medical physics dose evaluation for radiation exposure that exceeds the institutional review threshold, including reports.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reimburses this procedure code, which demonstrates the value of imaging physics and is an important step in improving patient care.
The guide is intended to provide suggestions for practical clinical implementation of this code and offers key considerations, CMS current payment rates, and resources to assist ACR members. For those who have yet to implement this code, discuss it with your department manager/administrator.
For more information or if you have questions about this resource, contact Alicia Blakey, ACR Principal Economic Policy Analyst.
