The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) filed comments this week with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) on its proposed rule to clarify and update the agency’s EHR certification and information blocking regulations.
For ONC’s health IT certification program, ACR and RSNA supported proposed U.S. Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) standard updates to enable key networks to support further exchange of diagnostic imaging data. The organizations also supported certification updates for clinical decision support within EHR technology intended to enhance algorithm transparency and promote AI innovation.
For the Information Blocking regulations, ACR and RSNA recommended further modifications to simplify compliance by small providers. The organizations also urged ONC to avoid anticompetitive issues that could be enabled by the agency’s proposed flexibility for entities offering EHR subsidies.
