The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) has put together a detailed summary of the calendar year (CY) 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) July 13. The summary outlines issues that impact radiology, including payment provisions related to the relative value unit and conversion factor updates, proposed changes to outstanding claims processing issues for the Appropriateness Use Criteria program, and updates to the Quality Payment Program. The finalized changes for most of the provisions will be effective Jan. 1.
The ACR and the ACR Commissions on Economics and Quality and Safety are reviewing these proposals and will draft and submit comments to CMS by its Sept. 13 deadline.
