MACPAC Considers Integrated Care and Increased Payment Recommendations

The Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) discussed draft recommendations to Congress during its January meeting about integrated care strategy and additional funding for the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Topics related to dually eligible Medicaid and Medicare participants and hosted panel discussions regarding proposals for upcoming reports to Congress. MACPAC is a nonpartisan legislative branch agency that provides policy and data analysis and makes recommendations to Congress, the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the states.

In addition, the commission discussed the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services proposed rule and revisions within it that affect dual eligible Medicaid and Medicare special needs plans.

A panel discussion also was held about the update on restarting Medicaid eligibility requirements, with panelists from different states explaining their situations and strategies to prepare for when the COVID-19 public health emergency ends.
