On Feb. 11, 2021, seven Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), led by Novitas Solutions (Jurisdictions H and L) and First Coast Service Options (Jurisdiction N), hosted a multijurisdictional
Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to obtain advice from CAC members and subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding the strength of published evidence on epidural interventions for chronic pain management. The panel consists of 12 SMEs identified by the MACs. In addition to the discussion, the SME panel voted on 28 pre-distributed questions during the meeting. For those not invited as SMEs, there is still an opportunity for you to participate in the process. American College of Radiology® (ACR®) staff is working with radiology CAC members to submit comments/votes. All feedback, including written comments and responses to the voting questions, should be sent to medicalaffairs@guidewellsource.com.
As a result of this meeting, the medical community can anticipate an updated local coverage determination (LCD) for this clinical topic. If/when a proposed LCD is published on this topic, we will alert ACR members.
