Nuclear medicine exams help save lives every day, but radiation dose from these exams remains among the highest in medicine.
Image Wisely® — in collaboration with the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), SNMMI Technologist Section and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology — has created easily accessible online educational materials to help providers use the lowest radiopharmaceutical dose necessary to perform nuclear medicine exams.
This collaborative initiative illustrates the commitment by those in the medical imaging community to ensure that medical protocols keep pace with advancing technology and that we continue to put patient safety and quality of care above all.
The new Image Wisely nuclear medicine initiative urges nuclear medicine providers to:
Image Wisely encourages imaging providers to demonstrate to patients that they “image wisely” by earning accreditation from the ACR (or another organization that directly evaluates critical radiation-related attributes) and by taking the Image Wisely pledge. The pledge is an indication to patients, communities and payers that individual providers, their facilities and their medical societies support this effort and are committed to providing safe, quality care. Facilities and associations who pledge to Image Wisely will be recognized on our Honor Roll on the Image Wisely website.
