United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) colorectal cancer (CRC) screening recommendations assigned an “A” grade to USPSTF-recognized CRC screening exams - including CT colonography (virtual colonoscopy). Until and unless the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is repealed, the ACA would now require private insurers to fully cover (with no co-pay) these USPSTF-recognized screening exams – including CTC. While Congress debates ACA repeal, the following is a current list of insurance providers that cover CT colonography screening irrespective of ACA requirements:
• Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (CA, CO, CT, IN, KY, ME, MO, NV, NH, OH, VA, WI) • Blue Choice (SC) • Blue Cross and Blue Shield (GA, TN, TX) • Cigna • Empire (NY) • Excellus (NY)
• Humana • Independence Blue Cross • Kaiser Permanente (MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY) • Priority Health (MI) • United Healthcare (UHC) River Valley (AR, GA, IL, IA, NC, OH, SC, TN, VA) • Unicare
