Muroff, MD, FACR, immediate past CEO & President of Imaging Consultants, Inc., Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology at both the University of Florida and the University of South Florida Colleges of Medicine, and President Emeritus of Educational Symposia, Inc., as they trace Dr. Muroff’s remarkable leadership journey from 6th grade safety patrol to one of the most highly sought after professional practice consultants for radiologists, hospitals, and corporations today.

Having worked since he was 12, Dr. Muroff developed an appreciation for hard work which has led to 42 years of continuous major leadership roles within organizations including the American College of Radiology (receiving the specialty’s highest honor, the ACR Gold Medal, in 2013), the Clinical Magnetic Resonance Society, the American College of Nuclear Physicians, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and the Florida Radiological Society to name a few.

After majoring in sociology at Dartmouth College, he graduated from Harvard Medical School and went on to hold several leadership positions, including CEO for a radiology practice in Florida. Having said, “The future for radiology is bright. The future for radiologists is far less certain.” Dr. Muroff has worked tirelessly to educate and inform on important topics such as leadership, contracts, negotiations, interpersonal issues and group governance throughout his career which led to him being designated by Aunt Minnie as Radiology’s Most Effective Educator in 2010.

Lawrence R. Muroff, MD, FACR is the immediate past CEO & President of Imaging Consultants, Inc., providers of consulting services to radiologists, hospitals, and corporations. Dr. Muroff is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Radiology at both the University of Florida and the University of South Florida Colleges of Medicine, and he is President Emeritus of Educational Symposia, Inc., one of the largest educators of diagnostic imagers in the country. Dr. Muroff served as the Director of MR, CT and Nuclear Medicine at University Community Hospital, Tampa, Florida from 1974 to 1994. For twenty years he was a member of a 45-man/woman radiology practice in which he served in several leadership positions, including CEO.

Did You Know?

Dr. Muroff has been married to Carol Savoy Muroff for almost 52 years. They have two children. Their son Michael is an architect in Tampa; their daughter Julie is in a leadership position at the Howard Hughes research center in Virginia after spending a long and satisfying career in law and leadership at the NIH. Each of their children has two daughters. Dr. Muroff began his patient-facing days early as he spent time in his grandparents’ nursing home! Dr. Muroff entered the specialty of radiology by accident, but it was a very fortuitous decision.
