In response to imaging facilities postponing non-essential examinations due to COVID-19 restrictions, three ACR National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR®) screening registries — National Mammography Database (NMD), CT Colonography (CTC) and Lung Cancer Screening Registry (LCSR) — have been updated to permit sites to indicate that an examination was delayed due to COVID restrictions. In addition, the LCSR has been updated to enable participants to capture data for patients with a coronavirus diagnosis, including the date of diagnosis and testing results.
In an effort to minimize the data collection burden, these COVID-19-related fields are strictly optional and should only be recorded at the time the screening exam is actually performed. However, the ACR encourages participants in these screening registries to submit these new COVID-19-related elements as soon as possible, to help us assess the impact that COVID might have, whether directly or indirectly, on registry screening populations. This registry data will also enable future research into potential links between COVID-19 and lung cancer.
