Letter from the Chair 2020

by Catherine J. Everett, MD, MBA, FACR

Greetings From the SRS Steering Committee

Catherine J. Everett, MD, MBA, FACRThe year 2020 did not start very well with COVID-19 turning us all upside down. But thanks to all of you who contributed on Engage. I love hearing about what you are doing inside. The dogs are great, but does anyone have a cat!?

Due to the tremendous influx of articles for our newsletter, we must split the contributions into two issues. The first issue will be primarily COVID-19 related. We will follow up in three months with the rest along with any new contributions.

We hear that you want to change the name, SRS eNews. Let’s have a "Name the Newsletter" contest! Please email your suggestions to Eileen LaGreca at srs@acr.org by May 20, and we will vote on Engage.

Please also send Eileen your input on the SRS:

  • Is the newsletter sufficient?
  • How active would you like to be in helping with the ACR Centennial in 2023?

An ACR Centennial Committee is in place, but SRS members are encouraged to contribute. Certainly, many SRS members should be recognized for their contributions to the ACR, and what better way than to feature them during the Centennial events?

All of us know an amazing “unsung super radiologist” who deserves the spotlight. We would love to hear their stories. In this issue, please read about Kathleen Gallagher Oxner, MD, MS, a resident with me at the University of North Carolina, whose career certainly took the road less traveled.

We are also still looking for volunteers interested in serving on the SRS Committee and taking SRS to the next level with formal officers and structure. We need a limited number of named officers, but it is important to have a succession plan if we want to continue our SRS.

Best regards,

Catherine J. Everett, MD, MBA, FACR
