Well-Being Curriculum Frequently Asked Questions

I have a well-being or burnout resource to share; how can I add my content?

If you have an activity or resource that you’ve used with your residents, we’d love to hear about it. Please send it to copllstaff@acr.org.

As a program director, can I give the residents and faculty in my program access to the Well-Being Index through ACR?

Yes! The Well-Being Index is available to all ACR members. Residents are given complimentary ACR member-in-training memberships. To ensure your program’s residents and faculty are members, contact ACR Membership at 800-347-7748 or membership@acr.org.

How can my program residents and faculty access the Well-Being Index?

Follow these instructions to find the ACR access code for residents and physicians and start using the Well-Being Index.

What other requirements does the ACR’s Well-Being Curriculum for Radiology Residency Programs meet?

Radiology residency program leaders may use the resources and experiential exercises in the curriculum to strengthen their residency and meet the ACGME VI.C. Well-Being requirements, effective on July 1, 2019, and thereby subject to citation.

As program director, is there another way I can collect my program residents’ Well-Being Index scores?

Some institutions have requested their residents share their Well-Being Index results using an anonymous survey, which could include additional institution-specific questions.

Does access to the WBI meet the ACGME requirement to provide residents with a well-being self-screening tool?

ACGME well-being requirement VI.C.1.e).(2) states that “The program, in partnership with its Sponsoring Institution, must provide access to appropriate tools for self-screening.” The Well-Being Index is a wellness self-screening tool. Your institution may require resident attestation regarding use of the Well-Being Index.

Do I need to sign-up to use the Well-Being Index or other program resources?

No, the Well-Being Index and Residency Program Curriculum can be used by any radiology residency program. Your residents will need an ACR access code to use the Well-Being Index. Though you do not need to sign-up or notify the ACR (though we do enjoy hearing how our resources are being used).

As a program director, can I see the scores of residents or receive a report to confirm that my program’s residents have participated in the Well-Being Index?

Unfortunately, well-being and burnout are controversial topics, and intense stigma exists around admitting burnout. Therefore, the Well-Being Index must ensure absolute anonymity for users. Personal identifiers are not collected, which means scores for specific institutions cannot be isolated.
