Radiology residency program leaders may use the resources and experiential exercises in the curriculum to strengthen their residency and meet the ACGME VI.C. Well-Being requirements, effective on July 1, 2019, and thereby subject to citation.
Some institutions have requested their residents share their Well-Being Index results using an anonymous survey, which could include additional institution-specific questions.
ACGME well-being requirement VI.C.1.e).(2) states that “The program, in partnership with its Sponsoring Institution, must provide access to appropriate tools for self-screening.” The Well-Being Index is a wellness self-screening tool. Your institution may require resident attestation regarding use of the Well-Being Index.
No, the Well-Being Index and Residency Program Curriculum can be used by any radiology residency program. Your residents will need an
ACR access code to use the Well-Being Index. Though you do not need to sign-up or notify the ACR (though we do enjoy hearing how our resources are being used).
Unfortunately, well-being and burnout are controversial topics, and intense stigma exists around admitting burnout. Therefore, the Well-Being Index must ensure absolute anonymity for users. Personal identifiers are not collected, which means scores for specific institutions cannot be isolated.
