For abstract presentations, authors should share how they were able to achieve a desired outcome to help enable audience members to replicate their results.

Two types of abstracts will be considered:

  1. Performance Improvement Reports
  2. Peer Review and Peer Learning

Performance Improvement Reports should focus on data-driven improvements based on sustainable changes in processes or systems. Authors should clearly articulate their goal, demonstrate performance using a run chart or control chart, and describe the most relevant interventions and learning points from the project. The committee encourages submissions detailing recent improvement as well as long-standing excellent performance.

This year, the committee is focusing on the topic of Peer Review and Peer Learning. Specifically, reports of program efforts to improve radiologist performance through processes that 1) identify errors or exemplary performance, 2) provide individual feedback and a forum for group discussion, and 3) contribute to process and systems improvement, are strongly encouraged and will receive priority in selection.

Abstracts will be judged according to how well they meet the above criteria. Authors are encouraged to review the May 2014 Radiology article, "Guide to Effective Quality Improvement Reporting in Radiology."

Proffered papers will be presented on Friday afternoon, October 13th. Each presentation will be allotted 8 minutes. 15 minutes of questions will be reserved for all presentations at the end of the session.

Abstracts should be limited to 300 words, excluding contact information, and may include up to two figures which should be submitted as a single pdf file. Abstracts should include the following:

  • Title and presentation
  • Author(s) name and city
  • Presenter’s name, address, phone number, fax number
  • Identify work supported by a grant
  • Prior publication or presentation of the research, if applicable
  • Background/Conceptual framework
  • Purpose of the project/Innovation
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions and Implications

Accepted abstracts will be made available for download for conference attendees in PDF format on the electronic syllabus. Neither honoraria nor expenses will be paid to presenters. Individuals whose abstracts are selected for presentation will be expected to fully register for the ACR Quality and Safety Conference.
