ACR Pleased by Silva's AMA RUC Chair Appointment

The American College of Radiology® (ACR®) is greatly pleased by the American Medical Association (AMA) Board of Trustees appointment of Ezequiel “Zeke” Silva III, MD, FACR, as Chair of the AMA Multispecialty Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC).

On March 1, the immediate past Chair of the ACR Commission on Economics and Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute® founding board member will begin his two-year term as RUC chair.

“Dr. Silva’s outstanding collaborative work and contributions in the fields of medicine and healthcare economics have earned the respect and trust of physicians and allied professionals across the house of medicine. I can’t think of a better choice to lead the AMA Multispecialty Relative Value Scale Update Committee into the future,” said William T. Thorwarth, MD, FACR, Chief Executive Officer of the ACR.

In addition to economics, Silva is also a leading voice for safe and effective care during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was an invited presenter to the CMS and White House COVID-19 Task Force “Lessons from the Front Lines: COVID-19” series and served as faculty for the AMA webinar "Coding for Telemedicine and COVID-19.“

Silva has authored or co-authored approximately 70 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, more than 50 non–peer reviewed publications and over 50 CME-approved scientific lectures and exhibits.

A practicing radiologist in San Antonio, TX, he also served on the editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR®). His alternative payment models paper was awarded the “Best of 2016” by the JACR.
