Two members of the American College of Radiology (ACR) were chosen to present at the 2019 annual meeting of the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD).
The CRCPD selected ACR’s Chair of Commission on Medical Physics, Mahadevappa Mahesh, MS, PhD, FACR, to present on Dose Management in Pediatric CT Imaging. Successful management of image quality radiation dose in pediatric CT requires an ongoing commitment from all radiology stakeholders. This talk will cover technologies and processes that can help a facility effectively manage pediatric CT patients, including the importance of communication between radiologists, technologists, medical physicists and other stakeholders.
A. Kyle Jones, PhD, an associate professor of imaging physics at MD Anderson Cancer Center, will speak on the ACR’s efforts to expand its Dose Index Registry (DIR) to include fluoroscopy. The ACR’s successful DIR has focused on CT since its inception in 2011, and the College is currently developing DIR-Fluoro. By mid-2019 the College expects to share an update about the challenges and successes of collaborating to expand the DIR, clinical benefits from site collaborations and dose index data reporting.
The annual meeting will be held May 6-9, 2019, in Anchorage, AK.
