On October 11, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) was joined by cosponsors Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA) and Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) to introduce the Biomedical Innovation Expansion Act (H.R. 4667).
If adopted, the bill would provide an additional $10 billion over 10 years for various research programs at the National Institutes of Health.
About $7.4 billion of the total would support the following high-visibility NIH projects:
- $3 billion for the ‘All of Us’ Research Program
- $2.9 billion for the Brain Research Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies Initiative
- $1.5 billion for the Cancer Moonshot Initiative
The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for consideration.
