The American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Editorial Panel accepted Category I code proposals from a coalition led by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for contrast-enhanced ultrasound, ultrasound elastography and magnetic resonance elastography at its September meeting.
The ACR extended special thanks to CPT Advisor, Mark Alson, MD, FACR, and Eric Rubin, MD, (RSNA), for the dedication and hard work that led a coalition of experts from multiple radiology specialty societies in the ultrasound community to accomplishing this task.
Additional Category I code proposals for PICC Line Procedures and Dilation of Urinary Tract presented at the meeting were co-sponsored by the ACR with other specialty medical societies. Both proposals were accepted.
All five CPT codes will be implemented on Jan. 1, 2019, as part of the editorial panel’s 2017 CPT code cycle.
