President Donald Trump has nominated Stephen Hahn, a radiation oncologist from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner. Dr. Hahn entered MS Anderson as chair of the radiation oncology department in 2015 and is currently the chief medical executive. Prior to that, he was a professor in the radiation oncology department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine since 1996. He served as chief of the Department of Prostate Cancer Clinic at the National Cancer Institute from 1994 to 1995.
Dr. Hahn’s research spans topics including lung cancer, cancer immunotherapies and brain tumors, positioning him at the forefront of topics affecting the FDA.
