The National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), an association of legislators involved in state health legislation, is debating an updated model balance billing disclosure act at its Nov. 16-19 annual meeting in Phoenix.
NCOIL’s Health, Long-Term Care & Health Retirement Issues Committee will review the proposed Healthcare Balance Billing Disclosure Model Act. It will hear testimony today (Nov. 18) from stakeholders before a committee vote. If adopted, the resolution on the updated model bill will be forwarded to the NCOIL executive committee for a possible vote for final approval on Sunday.
NCOIL is a legislative organization mainly of state legislators who chair or serve on committees responsible for insurance legislation. NCOIL committees draft model bills related to insurance. These model bills are updated periodically.
