In a Nov. 1 letter, the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) informed Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield it opposes the insurer’s controversial outpatient imaging policy.
The letter places the RBMA in agreement with the ACR in urging Anthem to reconsider its patient steerage policy, which directs patients who need of MRI or CT away from hospital-based outpatient imaging services.
The policy is in effect in nine states and will be expanded to three more states on March 1, 2018.
The RBMA represents radiology business managers and supports diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and radiation oncology providers in a full spectrum of practice settings.
