ACR Gears Up for January 2017 RUC Cycle

The American College of Radiology (ACR) will launch two American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) surveys in preparation for the first RUC meeting of 2017 on Jan. 11–14 in Bonita Springs, FL.

A survey concerning CT of soft tissue of the neck and another delving into cryoablation of pulmonary tumors were disseminated to a randomly selected group of ACR members in the first week of November.

Collected survey data will be analyzed to serve as groundwork for our time and value recommendations at the January RUC. This will be an extremely short cycle, so we ask ACR members who receive these surveys to complete them at their earliest convenience.

We urge survey recipients to refer to this LINK for more information about the purpose of the RUC survey process and how to correctly complete a RUC questionnaire. It is important to note our surveys often require collaboration with other specialty societies that also perform this service. You only need to complete one survey if you receive another one for the same code family from a different specialty society.

Values approved at the RUC in January 2017 will be submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for consideration and publication in the 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

Questions may be addressed to ACR RUC staff member Stephanie Le at or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4584.
