ONC and FDA Leaders to Speak at ACR 2017

Top echelon representatives from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will participate in informatics educational sessions at ACR 2017: The Crossroads of Radiology®.

Image Exchange: Review and a Practical Guide
Wednesday, May 24: 3:30 p.m.–5 p.m.
Steven Posnack, MHS, MS, director of ONC’s Office of Standards and Technology, will discuss the Department of Health and Human Services’ interoperability initiatives and how these efforts may interface with the imaging community.

Legislative and Regulatory Issues Affecting Medical Imaging Software
Thursday, May 25: 10–12 p.m.
Bakul Patel, MBA, MS, associate director for digital health, FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), will discuss FDA’s health IT policy priorities related to radiology. Chris Muir, MPA, director of HIT infrastructure and innovation, division in ONC’s Office of Standards & Technology will discuss the agency’s Interoperability Standards Advisory, with a focus on medical imaging-related standards.
