ACR Launches All Surveys for April 2016 RUC Cycle

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has launched its final four American Medical Association(AMA) / Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) surveys in preparation for the upcoming April 2016 RUC Meeting in Chicago.

Four surveys were circulated to a random selection of ACR membership during the week of March 14. They cover the following:

  • X-ray of the abdomen
  • X-ray of the chest
  • CT chest
  • CTA of abdomen and pelvis with runoff

Four surveys were previously distributed to ACR members during the week of March 7. They cover these clinical areas:

  • X-ray of hand, wrist and finger
  • X-ray of the ribs
  • Selective catheter placement
  • Bone imaging

Since this is a very short survey cycle, ACR members who receive a survey should complete and return it to the College as soon as possible. This will help expedite data collection and give ACR staff enough time to analyze the results. The data will be submitted as time and value recommendations to the AMA at the RUC meeting.

Please note that many of our surveys are multi-specialty. If you receive the same survey from another specialty society, please only complete one for a specific code family. This will help avoid duplicate entries and will remain within the ethical boundaries of the survey process.

The values approved at the April 2016 RUC meeting will be submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for consideration and publication in the 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

Questions may be addressed to ACR RUC staff member Stephanie Le at sle@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4584.
