ACR Needs Completed RUC Surveys

The American College of Radiology (ACR) launched RUC surveys for the seven code families, below, over the last three weeks in preparation for the April 2018 American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) meeting.

  • Ultrasound of the chest
  • CT of the lower extremity
  • X-ray of a surgical specimen
  • CT of the spine
  • X-ray of the clavicle and shoulder
  • X-ray of the bone
  • 3D rendering

The surveys for x-ray of a surgical specimen and ultrasound of the chest have been closed. However, the ACR needs your help in completing surveys for the codes that are still open. This is a particularly short survey cycle, and we have not yet met the minimum number of surveys required by the AMA for each family.

Your participation in this survey process effects reimbursement for these procedures; therefore, we encourage all members who receive a survey for a procedure that they perform to submit thesurvey as soon as possible. The data collected will be aggregated, analyzed and used as the basis for our time and value recommendations for each surveyed code. These values, once reviewed and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will be implemented in the 2020 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
