ACR Needs Your Help With RUC Surveys

The American College of Radiology (ACR) is asking members for a strong response to the recently launched five AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC) surveys for selected medical imaging and interventional radiology procedures.

The surveys are a critically important step in the RUC’s annual review of new or revised Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes and its recommendations for assigned relative values to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that will be reflected in its proposed 2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS).

RUC surveys for the following procedural categories have been distributed to ACR members.

  • X-ray of the esophagus
  • X-ray of the urinary tract
  • Ultrasound of the scrotum
  • CT scan for needle biopsy
  • Fluoroscopy

Due to the short April 2017 RUC cycle, the surveys will be closed in the next couple of days.

ACR needs your help to collect the required minimum number of completed surveys for each code family. If you have received a RUC survey for any of the above families and perform the procedure(s), please complete the survey as soon as possible. The surveys are randomly distributed to our membership. If you receive an invitation, but do not perform the procedure(s), please do not complete the survey.

The ACR appreciates your participation in this important step in the RUC process.

Questions may be addressed to ACR RUC staff member Stephanie Le via email or by phone at (800) 227-5463, ext. 4584.
