The American College of Radiology (ACR) is prepping the next batch of surveys for the October 2018 American Medical Association/Relative Value Scale Update Committee (AMA/RUC) meeting in Chicago. In the next few weeks, surveys will be circulated to ACR members for the following code families:
- Computed tomography of the orbit, fossa, sella, and/or ear (3 codes)
- Radiologic examination of the lower gastrointestinal tract (4 codes)
- Myocardial positron emission tomography (9 codes)
- Urography (1 code)
The ACR is collaborating with several specialty societies including the American Society of Neuroradiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and American Urological Association. Each involved society will distribute its respective survey to a randomly selected pool of individuals from its membership.
The data will then be aggregated and analyzed to build a value-based recommendation. Recommendations will be presented to the RUC Panel in October at the AMA/RUC meeting. If approved, they will then be relayed to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for final authorization and execution in the 2020 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
If you receive a survey request, please complete and return it at your earliest convenience.
Questions may be addressed to ACR RUC staff member Christy Buranaamorn at firstname.lastname@example.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 5653.
