ACR Launches Eight New RUC Surveys

The American College of Radiology (ACR) will launch eight American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) surveys in preparation for the October 2016 RUC meeting in Chicago.

The following eight surveys will be sent to a random selection of ACR members beginning the week of June 20. These families include:
  • MRI of the abdomen and MRI of the pelvis
  • MRA head
  • MRA neck
  • Angiography of extremities
  • Insertion of catheter
  • MRI of the lower extremities
  • Insertion of PICC catheter
  • MRI breast
The ACR will survey about 20 codes in total for the October 2016 RUC cycle. Since this will be a busy cycle, we ask ACR members who receive these surveys to complete them at their earliest convenience. ACR RUC staff will collect and analyze these data, which will serve as the foundation for our time and value recommendations to the RUC.

Several of our surveys involve collaboration with other specialty societies. If you receive a second survey for the same code family from a different specialty society, please complete only one.

Values approved at the RUC in October will be submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for consideration and publication in the 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.

Questions may be addressed to ACR RUC staff member Stephanie Le at sle@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4584.
