As most state legislative sessions close for the year, a cancer screening bill has been signed into law while a scope of practice bill did not advance and died when the session ended.
In Connecticut, Gov. Ned Lamont signed HB 7424 into law. The budget includes a provision mandating private health insurance coverage of comprehensive ultrasound screening for women who are 40 or older, have a family history or prior personal breast cancer history, or have a prior personal history of breast disease diagnosed through biopsy as benign, upon the recommendation of a physician.
Scope of Practice
In Rhode Island, SB 774 died in the House chamber. The bill would have expanded the scope of practice of physical therapists by allowing them to order diagnostic imaging and studies.
