New Hampshire SB 58 2019 passed both state chambers, and the bill clarifies the reimbursement rates for low-dose mammography by adding a new subparagraph to the statute on provider contract standards.
New measure stipulates that “provider contracts that include payment for mammography shall include distinct recognition of and additional payment for industry standard coding relating to mammography screening using 3-D tomosynthesis.” If signed by the Gov. Chris Sununu, the act will go into effect after 60 days.
The Department of Health and Human Services administers the Medicaid program in New Hampshire. Its Medicaid program provides coverage for low-dose mammography, having recently approved procedure codes for this service. However, the department has not yet established rates that may be tied to a percentage of established Medicare rates.
