CPT Editorial Panel Initiates 2019 Code Cycle

American College of Radiology’s (ACR) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Advisor Mark Alson, MD, FACR, and College staff are beginning their preparations for the 2019 coding cycle at the CPT Editorial Panel and Health Care Professional Advisory Committee Annual Meeting Feb. 9–11 in New Orleans.

ACR officials are meeting with other radiology CPT advisors to discuss possible code changes for 2019. In addition, Alson and staff will participate in workshops including a session on the future of alternative payment models (APMs) under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The implications of APMs for coding of services and for patients will be discussed.

A detailed explanation of the CPT Editorial Panel process can be found on the American Medical Association website.

ACR members have access to coding resources at the billing and coding section of the ACR website. Conference news will appear in Advocacy in Action e-News and the ACR Radiology Coding SourceTM, the College’s bimonthly electronic coding and reimbursement newsletter.
