ACR Signs Letter Supporting 34 1 Billion for NIH

The American College of Radiology and 260 fellow member organizations of the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research signed a Feb. 7 letter urging President Donald Trump and congressional leaders to enact a fiscal year (FY) 2017 spending package that includes $34.1 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The spending measure, which was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee last year, would increase the agency’s FY2017 budget by approximately $2 billion over FY2016 levels. NIH is currently funded via a continuing resolution through April.

The Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research represents medical and scientific societies, patient and voluntary health groups, academic and research organizations and industry in advocating for NIH funding during the annual appropriations process.
