Daniel Picus, MD, FACR, RCC has been awarded this year’s American Medical Association (AMA) Radiology Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Burgess Gordon Memorial Award.
The prestigious honor was presented to Picus during the recent AMA CPT/Health Care Professionals Advisory Committee Annual Meeting in Miami. It is bestowed annually to the CPT advisor who has made outstanding contributions to the CPT process.
Picus was recognized for his stellar work as the ACR’s CPT Advisor to the CPT Editorial Panel. He chairs the ACR Economics Committee on Coding & Nomenclature, is an editorial board member of the AMA’s CPT Assistant and AMA/ACR’s Clinical Examples in Radiology, and served as a member of the Radiology Coding Certification Board [2010-2014], the organization responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the only radiology-specific coding certification examination.
Picus is a professor of radiology and surgery, serves as senior vice-chair in the division of diagnostic radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
