On Nov. 21, 2019, President Trump signed a continuing resolution (CR), temporarily extending fiscal year 2019 funding levels for discretionary spending and continuing mandatory appropriations for health programs, including the National Institutes of Health.
The “Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2020, and Further Health Extenders Act of 2019’’ will continue funding through Dec. 20.
The legislation averts a government shutdown as none of the fiscal year 2020 spending bills has been signed into law.
It is the second CR passed to avoid a shutdown this year. The previous legislation was signed in Sept. and extended funding at 2019 levels through Nov. 21.
