Exceptions to Chapter Membership
Membership in a state chapter is optional if you are in the military or a USPHS employee. USPHS agencies include

- National Institutes of Health
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- Indian Health Service
- Health Resources and Services Administration
- Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
- Agency for Health Care Policy and Research
- Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
