Free Research Assistance to ACR Members
ACR offers professional and administrative assistance at no (or subsidized) charge, in
- study design
- form design
- analysis design
- statistics
- analysis
- manuscript preparation
The types of projects assisted typically:
- target a common disease/problem; or
- involve technology(ies) that have broad or common utilization; or
- address an issue that has major societal health or cost implications; such as:
- diagnostic accuracy or consistency
- effect of imaging on diagnosis, treatment, or patient health
- use of radiology by other medical specialties
- impact of technology on radiologists’ practice
- peer review methods
- comparisons of costs (and outcomes) of alternative treatment methods

Please contact us as early as possible in the process, preferably when you are still thinking about the project.
Send a brief description of the research idea to the address below including:
- Principal Investigator (and other institutions, if likely to participate in study)
- Rationale and objectives of the proposed project
- Expected outcomes or value for clinical practice or further research
- Any ideas or thoughts about methods and analysis
- Type of assistance required
Applications are reviewed by the Senior Director/Assistant Director of Research or an ad hoc committee of the Commission on Research and Technology Assessment. Based on the initial review, we may request additional information about the project.
