Thorwarth Awarded Honorary Membership

ACR Fellow William T. Thorwarth, Jr., MD, has been awarded honorary membership in the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. The honor is in recognition of his role as "a powerful force in supporting radiation oncology in the health care and political environments," according to an ASTRO press release.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized by ASTRO and be awarded honorary membership in the Society," Thorwarth said. "It has been my pleasure to work with ASTRO's leaders and representatives to ensure that there are appropriate coding and reimbursement mechanisms for radiation oncologists."

Thorwarth has served the ACR in a variety of positions in the past, including as a member of the Board of Chancellors and as president, as well as contributing to a number of ACR commissions and committees. He currently serves as vice chairman of the American Medical Association's CPT Editorial Panel.
