Resident Comments on UPenn Ban on Pharmaceutical Company Gifts


Residents at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania can forget about those free lunches provided by pharmaceutical companies thanks to a new policy that forbids gifts of all types to medical staff. The new policy is one of the toughest in the country, according to a May 3 report in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

"We had lectures every day for three months, and every single day the lunch was sponsored by a pharma company," noted ACR member and radiology resident Rajan Agarwal in the article, adding that residents often received dinner invitations as well.
