Opportunity for Family Time Shaped ACR Member’s Career Choice

The opportunity to spend more time with her husband and child is one of the reasons ACR member Nakiisa M. Rogers, MD, chose radiology as a career.

“Radiology tends to have a better lifestyle than say, surgery or some specialties,” Rogers said in a December 29 article in The Lima (Ohio) News. “It was one area that had more of a regular 8-to-5 sort of schedule most days. That was something I was interested in for a lifestyle. And I like the field so it worked out.”

According to the article, Rogers completed her residency in June and joined the staff of Lima Radiological Associates the following month, following her husband, an ear, nose, and throat surgeon, to Ohio. While Rogers is on-call one weekend a month, she said that her choice of radiology has paid off since her family has most of their weekends together.
