Missing ACR Member Rescued in National Park

ACR Member Hillel A. Ben-Avi, MD, who had been missing since Sunday while hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, was found Wednesday in good health. According to a Rocky Mountain News report, Ben-Avi was in good health, suffering primarily from dehydration.

Ben-Avi, a resident of Austin, Tex, was spotted in a drainage area in the park waving a makeshift flag. He was flown out of the park and taken to a nearby hospital for observation, according to the article. About 100 people, including search-and-rescue and search-dog teams had been searching for Ben-Avi.

Ben-Avi, who was hiking in the park with his brother, had used his cell phone on two occasions Sunday to contact park rangers to say he was lost, but the reception was poor on both calls.
