Investigation Continues Into Killing of Prominent ACR Member
Police in San Francisco continue to investigate the May 18 murder of ACR member Robert J. Lull, MD, according to published reports. Lull, chief of nuclear medicine at San Francisco General Hospital, was found stabbed to death in his home.
Reports say that police believe the attack occurred Wednesday night, but there was no indication of a forced entry or struggle. His wallet and two of his credit cards were found late Wednesday night. However, reports indicate that the police remain puzzled by the case.
"This is a real whodunit," Holly Pera, a homicide inspector with the San Francisco Police Department, said in a May 21 Associated Press report. "Usually, one of the first steps we take is look for the dark side of the victim. But we have been unable to find one so far. It seems he was well-liked and respected throughout his circle and family."
Lull had served in his role as UCSF's chief of nuclear medicine since 1990 and headed up the resident training program. He had served as head of the San Francisco Medical Society and is a past president of the American College of Nuclear Physicians.
