Curran Receives ESTRO Honorary Membership
Walter J. Curran Jr, MD, group chairman of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, has been awarded honorary membership in the European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in recognition of his contributions to clinical research in oncology. The honor came during the group’s recent annual meeting in Amsterdam. According to the ESTRO Web site, honorary membership “is given to people who have made a significant contribution to the achievement of the goals of the Society, more particularly in the field of interdisciplinary or international cooperation.”
In addition to his role as RTOG group chairman, Curran also serves as chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and as clinical director of the Jefferson Kimmel Cancer Center.
