ACR Member Mulls Future of Yankees’ Pitching Staff without Star Closer
Although Mariano Rivera is considered by most baseball fans and experts to be the greatest relief pitcher in the storied history of the New York Yankees, speculation that he could leave the team as a free agent at the end of the season has resulted in a fervent outcry of protest by team faithful, including ACR member Rona F. Woldenberg, M.D.
“When the pitching staff has been in disarray, the Yankees could always rely on the greatest closer of all time,” Woldenberg, a radiologist with North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., said in a Feb. 13 article in New York Newsday. “But baseball is a business, and [they] have to make a decision that looks forward to the future.”
