ACR Fellow Sullivan Steps Down as Associate Director of NCI Cancer Imaging Program
Daniel C. Sullivan M.D., is stepping down as associate director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Imaging Program (CIP).
Sullivan raised the profile of imaging research during his tenure at NCI, making imaging an integral part of NCI's research portfolio. For his outstanding work on behalf of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN™) and all of radiology, Sullivan was honored with a "Special Recognition Award" at the ACRIN 2004 Fall Meeting.
"Dan has been absolutely instrumental in the development of ACRIN from its earliest days and a great proponent and supporter of what we do. It is hard to imagine that we could have been nearly as successful without his help. All of us wish him well in his new endeavors," said ACRIN Chair Bruce J. Hillman, M.D.,
Sullivan is returning to the faculty of Duke University Medical Center where he will serve on the executive committee of the Cancer Center, and assist the university's senior vice chancellor for academic affairs in strategic planning for imaging.
Sullivan will also serve as a half-time science advisor for the Radiological Society of North America.
