ACRIN® Images Available on caBIG

The American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN®) debuted the first ever external node of the National Cancer Imaging Archive (NCIA) at the cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) Annual Meeting, held Feb. 6 - 7 in Washington, D.C. The NCIA has been in development during the past year and has been the recipient of image data sets from a number of projects and ACRIN trials.

The successful demonstration of a federated query against ACRIN’s database, located in the ACR’s Philadelphia research office, through the NCIA Web portal was the first production instance of connecting to the caGRID which is the cornerstone of caBIG.

ACRIN will continue to expand its partnership with the NCIA by exposing additional imaging trial data to the caGRID in an effort to create a national archive to support further research.

ACRIN is an active participant in the caBIG In Vivo Imaging Workspace and together with its office partner, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group®, caBIG is receiving real-life cases to guide its development.
